Music
Ask the real percentage. 80% bachata is not salsa and bachata; it is bachata with a diplomatic visit from salsa.
Floor and space
A great DJ does not save a sticky, slippery or territorial floor.
Arrival and exit
A nearby metro matters less at 2:30 AM. Plan the return, the area, parking and lines.
Level
Socials with a pre-class are usually better for beginners. Concerts are better for listening and loose dancing, not complicated pattern practice.
Total cost
Cover, minimum spend, parking, ride home and water. The cheap night sometimes just hid the bill somewhere else.
